An ebow is used throughout the song and adds great dynamic sound as well as a lot of intensity. If you don't know what an ebow is visit http://www.ebow.com and find out. ***Note: you can hear the ebow part best on the left side of the mix. Intro: E----------------------------------------------------------------------------- B--12~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~--/15~~~-14~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~-\12~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~- G----------------------------------------------------------------------------- E----------------------------------------------------------------------------- B--\10~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~---/12~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~----------- G----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Verse 1: The noise after "cannot see..." is a fast run like below. If you don't know how to do a fast run, refer to the ebow player's guide you got with it. e----------------------| B----------------------| G---2------------------| D-----4----------------| A-------2--------------| E----------------------| The ebow doesn't come back in until after "the wind that blows the trees..." e----------------------------------------------------------------------------- B-3~~~-2~~~-0~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~--------------------------------------------- G------------------------------------2~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~------------ D----------------------------------------------------------------------------- e----------------------------------------------------------------------------- B----------------------------------------------------------------------------- G----------------------------------------------------------------------------- D--2-4~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~--0-2-4~~~~~~~-2-0~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~-------- A----------------------------------------------------------------------------- E----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1st Chorus: e----------------------------------------------------------------------------- B--10~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~-7~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~-10~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~-- G----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Verse 2: The ebow comes in after "deeper than I know..." e----------------------------------------------------------------------------- B--7~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~---------------- G----------------------------------------------------------------------------- v=bounce ebow above string E-------------------------------------------------------------2~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ B--7~~~~~-5-v-v-v-3~~-2~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~-0~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~------------------ G----------------------------------------------------------------------------- fast run e-5~~~~~~~~~~----------------------------------------------------------------- B-------------5--------------------------------------------------------------- G---------------5------------------------------------------------------------- D-----------------7---7~~~~~~~~~~~~~~-/9~~~~~~~~~~-12~~-11~~-12-14~~~-14-16~~- A----------------------------------------------------------------------------- E----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2nd Chorus: e--------------------------------------------5~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~---- B--3~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~-5~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~------------------------------------ G----------------------------------------------------------------------------- e--7~~~~~~-10--9~~~~~~~~~--10~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~-9~~~~-12~~~~-10~~~~-------- B----------------------------------------------------------------------------- G----------------------------------------------------------------------------- e--14~~~~~~-12~~~~~~~~~~-/15~~~-14~~~~~--10~~-9~~-7~~~--5~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~--- B----------------------------------------------------------------------------- G----------------------------------------------------------------------------- The bass plays the intro 2x (no ebow guitar) Solo part: e----------------------------------------------------------------------------- B--7~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~-5~~~--10~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~-------------- G----------------------------------------------------------------------------- e----------------------------------------------------------------------------- B--7~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~-/10~~~~~~-12-10-\7~~~~~~~~~~~~------- G----------------------------------------------------------------------------- e----------------------------------------------------------------------------- B--7~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~--/15~~~~~~~~~--14~~~~~~~~-/17~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~----------- G----------------------------------------------------------------------------- e----------------------------------------------------------------------------- B-17~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~-15~~-14~~-\10-/12~~~~~~---------- G----------------------------------------------------------------------------- e----------------------------------------------------------------------------- B-12~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~-/15~~~~~~~~~~~~~-/19~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~---- G----------------------------------------------------------------------------- At this point the another ebow part comes in playing energy slides (pressing the drive channel against the string, which a very high pitch). I would encourage you just to improvise because energy slides are hard on the high strings and the noise can be annoying. If you want to play it, the first high noise after the above bar is right at the end of the of the neck pickup, but you may have to search for the exact pitch. When you find the pitch don't do a normal energy slide, just push down on the string. The higher pitch heard later is a quick energy slide on the high e (very hard!). Quiet Chorus: (you need to end on the 10 on the B string if you improvise) e----------------------------------------------------------------------------- B--(10)~~~~~~~-------5~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~--3~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~---------- G----------------------------------------------------------------------------- e----------------------------------------------------------------------------- B--(3)~~~~~~~~~~~~~~--5~~~~~~~~~~~~~--7~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~--10~~~~~~~------ G----------------------------------------------------------------------------- e----------------------------------------------------------------------------- B--(10)~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~-/15~~~~~~~~~~-14-17-19-15~~~~~~---- G----------------------------------------------------------------------------- e----------------------------------------------------------------------------- B--(15)~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~-17~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~-15~~~~~~~~~~~~~-17~~~~~~~~~~~-- G----------------------------------------------------------------------------- At this point when the distorted guitars come in, I would recommend that you stop using the ebow and play distorted rhythm or lead to add to the dynamics of the song. If you have enough guitarists to allow you to keep playing ebow, then here is the little ebow riff during the heavy part: e------------------------------------------------------------------------------ B--20~~-19~~-17~~-15~~~~~---20~~-19~~-17~~-15~~~~~~---------------------------- G------------------------------------------------------------------------------ In the ending it quiets back down and the ebow part is a lot like the intro. I would just encourage you to improvise on this part. Overall, this is an amazing praise song that has so much emotion in it. Just let the spirit lead you as you play the ebow parts and don't worry about playing it exactly like the album. I just tabbed it all for reference.
